Remember when I got paid to write activities for a book last year? I had another opportunity this year to contribute to another book from the same publisher! This time I researched for updated books for booklists in The Story of the World Activity Book 3. These booklists make it easier for parents to supplement their children’s reading about topics in early modern history. When my kids were homeschooling in the early years, I LOVED finding supplemental books for them. The activity book is due to be published in February 2020. If you know any children who love history, please pass this along to their parents!
I was on a roll with having done the bedroom renovation (see last post) between summer and just a couple of weeks ago. After I got the majority of the un-fun work done in the bedroom, I decided to repaint the front hallway. I tutor students there, and had painted it a bright orange a few years ago. I love the colour; but it was feeling too dark in there, even with the window. I visited a paint store, hemmed and hawed over paint chips, and finally selected this lighter orange. I love this colour, too; it just feels so much lighter in there now.
Because the glitter experiment worked in the bedroom renovation, I decided to do it to the switchplates in the front hall, too. This time I used a multi-coloured glitter with bigger particles. I just love the punch they add to the space. Of course, my students walked in and ooooh’ed and aaaaah’ed over them the first time they saw them.
As I renovate more spaces in the house, I think I’ll keep doing the glitter switchplate idea. It’s so fun!
